Dr. Murali Krishna did his post graduate studies in Food Science and Technology at the Central Food Technological Research Institute CFTRI, Mysore and at the Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI), New Delhi. He was awarded the Ph.D. degree by IARI in 1968. He studied advanced Baking Science and Technology at the American Institute of Baking. Dr. Krishna is a Certified Food Scientist (CFS) – International Food Science Certification Commission, Institute of Food Technologists, USA.
Dr. Krishna has over 50 years of experience with Food and Agro Processing Industries. Starting with an academic and research position as Asst. Professor at the Indian Agricultural Research Institute, New Delhi, he switched early in his age to work with Food Processing Industries in India and abroad – with Public sector, Private sector and Multi – National Companies and with US Soybean Export Council. He was closely associated with Modern Food Industries India Ltd., – a Government of India Enterprise for over 2 decades and was appointed as the Chairman and Managing Director of the company from 1991-1996. During his tenure with the company, Dr. Krishna played a significant role in expanding the manufacturing capacity and consumer reach through diversified bakery products as well as Wheat – Soy based supplementary nutritious food products for mothers and children. Dr Krishna was instrumental in setting up India’s first Peanut Butter plant and actively promoted its consumption as an affordable health and wellness food for the people. He also played an important role in manufacturing and providing Wheat – Soy based ready to eat nutritious food daily to several millions of mothers and children across the states of Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Assam under the Supplementary Nutrition Programs of the States.
Dr Krishna worked with Multinational Organizations – Solae DuPont and U S Soybean Ex[port Council to enlarge the consumption of Soy protein based innovative food and nutrition products for health and wellness and to bridge the protein and pulses gap in South Asia.
Dr. Krishna was the recipient of several honors and recognitions including the prestigious Dr. V. Subramanyan Memorial Industrial Achievement Award, Dr. HAB Parpia Memoria Oration Award and Life Time Achievement Award of International Union of Food Science and Technology (IUFoST).
Dr. Krishna earlier served as a member of the Research Council at CSIR – CFTRI, Mysore. He has served on several Professional committees on Food Processing
